Strobilanthes hamiltoniana grows to 1.5m high; it has a slightly weeping habit when in flower, creating an even more pleasing picture.  The pink tubular flowers are held high above the foliage in autumn and winter.  Morning sun or a lightly shaded position is ideal.  Strobilanthes hamiltoniana needs to be cut back in early spring and it is easy to grow from cuttings.  Plant in a warm position in the garden as it is frost tender.  This tropical plant has been growing in my garden for many years; it is a strong reliable grower in Sydney gardens.

Native: South East Asia
